Theater, Circus, Variety, Videogame
27 year old with 6 years of professional experience as designer. Ex Lead Gameplay / Game Designer at Teyon who for the past 2 and a half year has been working at Plastic. Educated on his own mistakes, guy who greatly enjoys reading textbooks and manuals just to reframe and preach them as wisdom of the streets – art brut style. His latest published project was BOUND – Experimental platformer for PlayStation 4 which also happens to be first Polish game for PSVR.
While researching 20th century art during BOUND development, I’ve been struck how precise and useful the future predictions and techniques made by 20th century artists/philosophers were. Not only they still apply to videogames of today, they also provide interesting insight that could lead to more captivating products in the future. I’ll discuss and show how combining expertise of both crafts can help us analyze and improve our current and future projects. Starting with Wagner’s idea of Gesamtkunstwerk, through selected ideas from Moholy-Nagy, Stanislavski, Grotowski, Shklovski and Baudrillard, and ending on a contemporary note of Adrian Chmielarz lens of Presence, Immersion and Engagement.
