Team-Effort – Designing Games as a Collaborative Process
Luis joined the World of Warcraft team in 2005 and has since contributed to several World of Warcraft expansions such as Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King as well as Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. Most recently he completed work on World of Warcraft: Legion as Lead Game Designer where he helped guide the development of several zones, class campaigns and the Demon Hunter class.
Roll the credits for any modern Blizzard game and you will notice the first attribution on the list is Game Design, followed by the words “Blizzard Entertainment.” This acknowledgement is more than a lofty ideal, it is the reality of working within collaborative teams in our industry today. In this session we will cover what it means to be a Game Designer in an environment where all our coworkers have a creative stake in the process and how to use feedback, buy-in and alignment to help us and our teams make better games.
