Why is video game AI still mostly hand-crafted despite such amazing progress in AI as a computer science field? Why do we still rely on boorish hacks or easily exploitable heuristics when creating AI? What are good examples of games that showcase interesting AI? In the game development industry, we have a lot of great tools for graphics, animation and game logic. The question is – why don’t we ever hear about such amazing solutions to help us create next-gen AI?
