Storytelling in concept art
Monika Pałosz started her career as 2D character artist doing hidden-object puzzle adventure games at Artifex Mundi. She worked on pitches and visual development of various animated productions, eg. Another Day of Life (Platige Image). Since 2015 she’s been working as a concept artist and illustrator at SIXMOREVODKA Studio – a boutique concept art studio in Berlin, providing world class artwork and conceptual services for many major clients in the entertainment industry (Guerrilla Games, Marvel, Riot Games among others). Recently she’s also been doing comic book covers for Valiant Entertainment. Creating believable, life-like characters is the most important part of her work.
Is there really any difference between concept art and illustration? What animation and comics have to do with video games? Is drawing still a viable option for developing assets in the world of photo-manipulation? In this talk I would like to answer these and other questions and share my experience from working as a concept artist on a wide range of subjects, from hidden-object games to MOBA (League of Legends).
