Paul Malin has been a software developer in the games industry for over 20 years. Paul currently holds the position of Technical Director as part of Activision’s Central Tech studio. Prior to that, Paul was the CTO at the game development studio Bizarre Creations. During his time with Activision, Paul has contributed to a broad range of engineering tasks in the Destiny® and Call of Duty® franchises. Recently, he collaborated with the team at Sledgehammer Games to implement High Dynamic Range display support for Call of Duty® WWII. This talk covers a basic introduction to color science, color terminology and display standards. Attendees will learn about the color pipeline for previous Call of Duty® titles, the challenges raised when adding support for High Dynamic Range displays, some of the implementation options available and the approach taken to add HDR display support to Call of Duty® WWII.
