A talk about the unholy marriage of art and technical art. In the games industry today, teams can consist of anything from a handful to a thousand people. Art teams of different sizes face very different challenges, both creatively and how they work in production. This talk focuses on some of the different problems large and small teams face with their pipelines and creative process. How art teams can leverage modern technology and workflows in unique ways, and let creativity and technology help drive eachother towards a focused goal. And on the flipside: how to avoid some of the pitfalls of trying to be too smart all the time. Both on a macro scale per project, involving artstyles and technology, but also on a smaller scale, how I approach day to day tasks such as modelling, texturing and rendering.
