Tomek Dietrich is a game developer with over 9 years of experience. Currently working as a CTO for Noobz from Poland and Rookiez from Warsaw. As a lead programmer and product owner at 11 bit studios he worked on company proprietary technology – Liquid Engine and on Frostpunk 2. Before that, as a programmer, he worked in CD Projekt Red on GWENT: The Witcher Card game, Thronebreaker and Cyberpunk 2077.

Scrum with its premise of regular increments seems to be the holy grail of harnessing creative chaos into something manageable. Flawed process however, may lead to team frustration and reduction of their effectiveness. Why in practice do teams often want to give it up after the first sprint and the company board is disappointed? This presentation is a subjective analysis of various aspects of scrum implementation in gamedev. Mistakes and problems will be broken down into causes and solutions.
