Building and Designing the world of The Ascent
A deep dive into the art pipelines and visual process behind making the dense urban world in The Ascent, Neon Giants recently released title. The talk goes into detail in the art creation process, the thought process behind the designs and art direction of the game, as well as the tools involved. Using these methods, a small team of only four artists managed to design, build and populate a large open world, in a short timeframe, using Unreal Engine and custom tools.
Currently Creative Director at Neon Giant, a small indie studio in Uppsala, Sweden that recently launched The Ascent. Before starting Neon Giant, Tor was an Art and Technical Art Director in the AAA industry, on titles such as Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. Throughout the years, Tor has contributed to many franchises such as Gears of War, Doom, Far Cry, Rage and many others.
